Most of us have baggage when it comes to furniture and ornaments. We have been building up what we have for years, with the result that we have a complete mish mash of styles and designs which do not really go together. We have old walnut antique furniture mixed in with modern Rattan Furniture and other treasures from over the years.
When we buy a property abroad, though, we in a sense have the chance to start afresh and kit out the home from a new perspective. It is often too expensive to ship down our existing furniture, so we start on the new home from scratch.
Most of us will have to keep the costs down but a second home can be kitted out quite cheaply if you are careful. Just buy the basics at first that you need to get going, but buy it with the idea that it will have to match whatever else you might buy, so keep it in one style, for example, rustic or Scandinavian or contemporary.
Much of it you can buy from second hand stores or antique shops as you can find some real treasures abroad. This means that you keep the costs down and get yourself some really authentic local furniture.
Hyper markets are also a good place to start with the basics of what you need.
