If you are in the market for a puppy, you will currently be in the process of preparing for the new addition to your household. A new pet is not something to be taken lightly; you will need to do a fair amount of work before you and your home are ready to welcome the dog.
Unless you are an experienced dog owner, you may well be feeling a little anxious about all of the things you need to do before the puppy's arrival. While the process of preparation is important, you will find that, as long as you take into account plenty of good advice, you will manage to organise everything very well.
You might like to start with the administrative details. If you have ordered or reserved a puppy, and you are waiting until s/he can leave her mother until you collect her from the breeder or rescue organisation, you can get on with the business of sourcing good vetinary care and selecting pet insurance even before your new dog comes home with you.
Once these tasks are complete, you should head for the shops. Remember your puppy will need specifically formulated puppy food – ask your new vet to recommend a suitable variety – along with a bed, and food and water bowls.
If you are in any doubt about the things that you will need in order to ensure that your new puppy is comfortable, happy and safe, you will want to make sure that you talk to your vet, or to a canine expert capable of giving you excellent advice.
